The Position
As Credit Manager France at LIZY, you own the full credit lifecycle for our French portfolio. You are the person who makes sure we say yes to the right clients, at the right terms, and that we recover effectively when things go wrong.
You will inherit a lean team and a solid foundation, but the road ahead is largely unpaved. The French market has its own dynamics, a mix of SMEs and freelancers with specific financial profiles, data sources, and regulatory context. Your job is to deeply understand that market and build a credit process that is both rigorous and fast enough to deliver the LIZY customer experience.
You will work closely with the Finance Manager, the commercial team in France, and your counterparts in Belgium and the Netherlands. You will also own the selection and management of external partners and software providers that make your processes sharper and more scalable.
What you'll be doing
Own the end-to-end credit decisioning process for France: scoring models, decision rules, credit limits, and continuous calibration based on portfolio performance
Analyze default patterns and portfolio performance to identify weaknesses in the current process and implement targeted improvements
Build and refine a credit assessment approach tailored to the specificities of French SMEs and freelancers, including self-employed professionals (micro-entrepreneurs, TNS, liberal professions)
Lead the selection and integration of data providers, scoring tools, and credit software to improve decision quality and reduce manual workload
Design and optimize the collections process for non-paying clients, from early warning signals through to legal recovery, including partner selection where relevant
Manage and grow the credit analyst team in France, with clear ownership, priorities, and high execution standards
Produce regular portfolio reporting: default rates, loss metrics, vintage analysis, and actionable insights for leadership
Collaborate with commercial and operations teams to balance credit discipline with growth objectives
πβπββοΈ About you
A good candidate is:
Energized by a scale-up environment where priorities move fast and impact is visible
Rigorous by nature but pragmatic, you understand that a perfect decision made too slowly is a bad decision
Comfortable working with incomplete information and building things that do not yet exist
Your profile:
Around 5 years of experience in credit risk, with direct exposure to SME and/or freelancer lending or leasing in the French market
Hands-on experience with credit scoring methodologies, portfolio monitoring, and collections processes
Familiarity with French-specific data sources and credit assessment tools (e.g. Banque de France scoring, KBIS analysis, liasse fiscale interpretation)
Strong analytical skills, you are comfortable in Excel or similar tools and can turn portfolio data into clear recommendations
Entrepreneurial mindset, you spot problems before they become crises and you propose solutions, not just observations
Excellent communicator in both French and English, written and spoken
